The Gimp
Boomers: America's Worst Generation
"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households." - Socrates
The old shitting on the young is not a new thing, nor is the young rolling their eyes at the people who caused all the problems blaming them for how they react to it. That's right, I just said Socrates was full of shit. Just because you use flowery words and wear a robe doesn't make you right on absolutely everything.
The only difference between an older person and a younger person is who's allowed to get away with the most bullshit. If you've ever heard the phrase "Do as I say, not as I do," it's probably coming from someone above the age of consent.
If there's one thing I've learned, it's that hypocrisy and adulthood go hand in hand. Anyone can be a hypocrite, but adults seem to walk right into it. It's how we survive - while blaming the next generation, the generation with no money and no power. But that's a societal ill. We're always punching down.
That doesn't mean certain people are immune from satire and comedy, but blaming people who don't have the power to affect anything is ridiculous and if older people want to be taken seriously for their "wisdom" by the young, they need to reevaluate their strategy because it doesn't pass the Bullshit Test.
Scapegoating has the word "goat" in it, but it's a uniquely human condition. Parents like to say that the sign of an adult is taking responsibility. Again, more of that "do as I say, not as I do" bullshit. Kids learn better by example than theory. And parents wonder why their kids end up all fucked up.
My dad used to say to me, "What did I teach you?" Honesty wasn't an option. The correct answer was never the most accurate one. If I wanted any semblance of an inheritance after all the abuse, it was always best to just tell the Boomer what he wanted to hear. The truth wasn't important. My mind usually went blank whenever he'd ask me a question anyway, which didn't help the situation. And if I said I couldn't remember, I'd get the old "it's a choice," "choose to remember" and the classic, "life is the summation of your choices."
Typical boomer shit. "Why can't you just do it like I did?" Because you flaming twatsicles ruined everything so that nobody can do it at all anymore. Congratulations.
